Queen’s Guide Wins Award For
“Outstanding Contribution for Working Against
Sexual Violence”
Tonight
at the NSW Rape Crisis Centre Annual Dinner at Birkenhead Queen’s Guide Lauren
Hansen of Gordon is to receive this ward for 2009.
As part of her efforts in
2008-09 toward achieving the Queen’s Guide she worked with other
Guides to identify key messages in relation to sexual assault. These were reproduced onto a
wallet sized resource to be sent to universities and TAFEs throughout NSW for distribution during
Orientation Week.
The Rape Crisis Centre is very impressed with Lauren’s work, the quality of her resource and her
ability to involve other Guides in the project.
This year at its Annual Spring Function the Centre is launching its inaugural presentation of this
award. They describe Lauren Hansen is “the stand out winner”.
Lauren is to be presented with the award at the dinner tonight. She is accompanied by the State
Commissioner for Girl Guides NSW and ACT, Belinda Allen.
