DOLLYS Massive School Score
Everyone has a right to learn
With around one in seven parents unemployed in Australia, and
the credit crunch predicted to get worse in 2009, basics like
school fees, uniforms and books are out of reach for many
Aussie kids. Thats why DOLLY has teamed up with The Smith
Family for DOLLYs Massive School Score.
DOLLYs Massive School Score: How it works
DOLLY is encouraging readers to register their school to raise
money for the Smith Familys Learning for Life program, which
sponsors disadvantaged kids in Australia to provide them with
the basics for a good education. Tori, 14, is one of six
children, and says The Smith Familys Learning for Life has
helped provide her with back-to-school basics, like books and
uniforms. With the help of my sponsorship through The Smith
Family Im now entering Year 10 and hope to pursue a career in
childcare when I finish school, Tori says. Theres no limit
on how to raise funds to help others like Tori: try a jumble
sale, a lamington drive, a free dress day, whatever, just get
in and get involved.
A good gig for a good deed!
In return for their efforts, schools have the chance to win
one of several amazing celebrity experiences imagine Sneaky
Sound System playing at your assembly, Neighbours cast members
dropping in to say hi, or a training session with sporting
champions. Theres also a truckload of stationery and books to
be won.
Do you really know whats in your drink?
With women making up four out of five drink-spiking victims,
and one in three drink-spiking incidents involving sexual
assault, spiking is a real and present danger. DOLLY pops the
cork on drink-spiking, with tips and information on how to
party safe, and what to do in case you or someone you know
fall victim to this crime.
Pair pressure: when everyone else wants you hooked up
With TV shows like The Farmer Wants A Wife and The Bachelor,
its easy to think everyone is on a one-track mission to find
that perfect someone. But who decided that single is a dirty
word? DOLLY reveals how to deal when your friends and family
just cant stop setting you up and palming you off in the
hopes of turning your party of one into a gruesome twosome.
Put down the put downs
Theres times we all let negative self-talk get the better of
us, but too much I cant, Ill never and Im not good
enough can be seriously damaging. DOLLY investigates the
power of internal language and reveals how to re-program your
thinking so you dont sabotage your happiness. We also reveal
how celebrities keep that nasty little voice inside their
heads quiet.
